Summary of Activities: Several of our little friends are particularly interested in sharks and dinosaurs and so most of our library books were about those 2 things this month centering around back to school and learning about each other. We turned the sandbox into a big sandpit instead so there’s way more space for everyone to play in the sand together! We also did water table play well into the fall including buying rain suits to keep us warm and dry while having tons of fun pouring and scooping out water from the water table! We also painted with water on the wood, tables, and water mats. We took a field trip to the local Cabela’s to look at the fish because we read the book “Pout Pout Fish Goes to School.” We enjoyed seeing the fishies and enjoyed identifying the different types of them. In accordance with the emergent curriculum we practice we expanded on a new song we learned to change it from “5 little students” to “5 little dinos” using the dino figurines to countdown the dinos leaving school at the end of the day. We also spent a lot of time drawing and writing on the white board and the easel paper. Overall, we had a spectacular month doing lots of outdoor play, learning about school and each other, and directing our own learning journeys!
